This course supports students in successfully transitioning to college life at Columbia-Greene Community College by developing the foundational skills necessary for academic success, informed decision-making, and effective participation in the college community. Students will learn to apply critical thinking to academic and personal challenges, locate and evaluate information using college resources and digital systems, and engage in respectful dialogue that considers diverse perspectives. Through exploration of campus resources, interactive activities, reflective writing, and structured discussions, students will strengthen their information literacy, reasoning, and communication skills while building strategies for persistence and success. Emphasis is placed on ethical information use, constructive communication, and the development of habits that support student achievement throughout their college experience.
Students who complete this course successfully will be able to:
