Description
An introduction to and overview of the field of sociology. Gives students a basic working knowledge of the major institutions present in American society and their relationship to power, conflict, and social change.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the methods sociologists employ in social science, including hypothesis development and testing, data collection, analysis, and reporting of findings
- Demonstrate an understanding of the major concepts, models and issues investigated by past and present sociologists
- Demonstrate an ability to apply the findings of sociology to everyday human functioning
